This Privacy Policy explains what information Privateer Technologies LLC ("we," "us," "Privateer") collects when you use The Privateer, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

You give us:

• Email address — used to create your account and to send passwordless sign-in links and service messages.
• Shipment tracking numbers and any shipment descriptions you add — the shipments you ask us to watch.

Created when you use the service:

• Shipment status and history we retrieve from carriers for your tracking numbers, and the "catches," eligibility assessments, and claim packets we derive from that data.
• Account and session records — sign-in tokens (stored only as a hashed value, never in plaintext), session identifiers, and timestamps.
• Billing records — your subscription status, plan tier, and the customer and subscription identifiers from our payment processor. We do not collect or store your full card number; card details are handled directly by Stripe.

We do not ask for or store passwords.

2. How we use it

• Operate the service: authenticate you, watch your shipments, detect catches, and prepare claim packets.
• Send transactional email: sign-in links and messages about your account, catches, or billing.
• Process payments and manage subscriptions.
• Maintain security, prevent abuse, debug, and comply with law.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your shipment data to advertise to you.

3. How information is shared

We share information only with service providers that help us run the service, and only as needed:

• Carrier tracking APIs (UPS, DHL): we send your tracking numbers to retrieve delivery status.
• Stripe: payment processing and subscription management. Stripe's handling of your payment information is governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.
• Resend: delivery of transactional email (such as sign-in links).
• Hosting/infrastructure: our server provider, where the service and its database run.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or us. If the business is transferred (e.g., a sale or merger), account data may transfer as part of it.

4. Where data is stored and how it's protected

Account, shipment, and billing data are stored in a database on our server. Sign-in tokens are stored only as cryptographic hashes. Session cookies are HttpOnly and sent only over HTTPS in production. We restrict access to systems holding personal data and take reasonable measures to protect it, but no method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure.

5. Retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data; we will do so except where we must retain certain records (for example, billing or tax records) to comply with law. Database backups are retained on a rolling basis and age out over time.

6. Your choices

• Access and deletion: request a copy of your data or deletion of your account by contacting support@theprivateer.ai.
• Stop tracking a shipment: remove tracking numbers from your account at any time.
• Email: transactional messages (like sign-in links) are essential to the service; if you stop wanting them, stop using the service and request deletion.
• Cancel billing: manage or cancel your subscription through the billing portal.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (such as access, correction, deletion, or portability). To exercise them, contact us at the address below.

7. Children

The service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their information.

8. Changes

We may update this policy. We'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
